Rusina Road Extension

Posted in: Pinecliff
I will be out of town for the September 16 "Open House" discussion of the extension. I would like to offer for discussion by those who attend the following proposal: Since this extension is being completed as an "improvement", it should not result in a degradation of current service to citizens. Consequently, planners should consider traffic controls which would give current southbound traffic on Rusina road priority right of way as they enter Rusina from Pope's Valley. Traffic turning north from Pope's Valley would be controlled by a stop sign. A yield right of way or a stop sign at the Rusina/Pope's Valley intersection for southbound traffic on Rusina approaching from Rockrimmon is one alternative method of traffic control. Since the Rockrimmon/Rusina route will be entirely new, those travelers will not have to "unlearn" habits on that route. A stop sign or yield sign would merely be a part of the new route. Southbound Rockrimmon residents gain an alternative route to the Garden of the Gods corridor without unnecessarily penalizing Pinecliff residents with an interminable delay at the new intersection if southbound Rockrimmon traffic becomes a constant stream.
