Lowering the MPH to 15 for the children is not a bad reason, however, on my street you can't even bring it down to 25. School zones are 20 MPH and
that works just fine.I'm not saying we should go to 20 either.I just don't see the need for the added espense of ordering signs when we don't even have a lot of police cruising the streets. (especially mine.)But I'm sure council will do what ''they'' want to do. red hat

I Thought It A Good Idea At 1st

Originally thought it might be a good idea to lower the speed limit, but after thinking about it, the only ones that will observe it are the ones all ready observing 25mph.

I want to know what has been done in terms of enforcement within the Village. Are our officers only sitting at the corner of Valleyview and Hague and not within the Village? Have the mayor tell me how much time the officers have spent within the inner Village streets doing speed limit enforcement.

More information seems to need to be gathered first before they jump in and do something. Why not some traffic studies first. Set the recorders out that measure how much traffic and how fast they were going and when they were doing it. It may help the officers pick the right times to work enforcement.

Also, traffic calming devices could be installed. Speed humps and other traffic slowing devices could be used as well.

Lowering the speed limit does nothing if there is no enforcement.

Survey

I am disappointed in how the mayor presented his survey to the residents. Why does it have to be signed and with an address?

One resident I spoke said they did not want to send it back because they did not want to put their name on it. They were worried about the way things were handled in the past and were afraid of retribution of just having their name recorded and someone from the other side of the issue using it against them.

The survey could have been handled better in my opinion. I think it would be important to know what street you lived on, but adding the specific house number or you name to it was not needed.

We will have to see how the Council handles this legislation from the mayor. We can only hope that they do not pass it as another piece of emergency legislation that blocks the residents from having an opportunity to petition it they choose to do so.

I agree with speed bumps

Thank you Paul for opening my eyes to another solution in the constant speeding situation here in the village. I didn't even think about speed bumps and it sounds to be a great idea and I am all for it.
It has helped to areas such as Upper Arlington, Clintonville & Grandview. Now I did say ''areas of'' not ''all over'' mentioned above, but those known for speeding problem areas of those mentioned above.
There again a survey is very much needed to place them on the proper streets and added as needed. I know for a fact that Dibblee & Eldon are some of those streets were they are desperately needed. I do not feel that lowering the speed limit is going to solve the speeding problem.
