Do we really need Street Lighting in Sharon Woods? I've read all the Civic Association letters and articles and if the City of Columbus is really going to put up overhead, ugly, Freeway type lighting on our streets, I would like the decorative type lamp post instead. However, does street lights really add to our security that much? What do the rest of the residents of Sharon Woods think? Write back please.

Yes, We Will Get Street Lights.
I just heard Mayor Michael Coleman tell the members of Northland Community Council on September 3rd at the Karl Road Library that we will have street lights on all of our streets by 2020. That is only a little over 17 years away and right now we would get the overhead lights you see on Karl Road, South of 161. Is this what we want in Sharon Woods?

Street Lights
I do not think that the street lights would add any security to our neighborhood, but I really do not want the city to put in the ugly freeway lights. If the city insists on putting lights in our neighborhood why don't they just put the decorative lights in instead of telling us they will put ugly ones in if we do not put out more money for the others. Maybe the city should pay the difference between the ugly ones and the decorative ones. Why should we have to pay the entire amount for the decorative ones.

Who Pays What
Seems to be some misunderstanding. The City of Columbus would pay the amount that they would have contributed for the Cobra, Freeway style of lights. If we as a neighborhood want decorative lights, we would only pay the difference between Cobra (Freeway Style) and the kind of lighting we choose. Unless we can get petitions signed by the homeowners, however, we aren't going to get anything right now.
