Speakers:
Patsy Thomas, assistant city prosecutor in environmental division.
She described what the Environmental division of the city attorney?’s office does. Basically provides the teeth of code enforcement. Described the process. Code cites violator. Violator can ask for extension to fix/clean. Prosecutor can file in court, either criminal or civil. If violation found to be valid by judge, then prosecutors monitor after. Can take property for back taxes or unpaid fines. Can get property nuisance abated. Need to show legally that it is a nuisance, and that there is a pattern of conduct.
She said call her office to find out status of cases- 645-8868. She said they are there to serve the taxpayer. She also went over some other city services. Tool library, code and health code enforcement, lead abatement, Senior options, Keep Columbus Beautiful, etc.

Audience wanted to know how to cope with 548 Wilson, a stinking mess for many years. Code said they would check it out, but they couldn?’t go in.
