October is Crime Prevention Month. Click on these links to help yourself and others to prevent crime. Some of the resources you will find are: Cyber bullying, Senior fraud, Internet Safety for kids, and Identity theft.

Celebrate Safe Communities (CSC) is a national initiative of the National Crime Prevention Council and the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance, and was developed in partnership with the National Sheriffs’ Association. CSC spotlights community crime prevention efforts, enhances public awareness of vital crime prevention and safety messages, and recruits year-round support for prevention activities that help keep neighborhoods safe from crime and prepared for any emergency.

The National Crime Prevention Council is celebrating Crime Prevention Month this October with a Poster Celebration for all youth under the age of 18.  Draw a poster showing McGruff or some other crime prevention theme, and submit it to NCPC and have it displayed on NCPC website gallery.  See the attached flier for rules and details. This activity is perfect for classroom, afterschool, or community programs about being safe in your community.  Help raise awareness that crime prevention is everybody’s business.

Send your posters or photographs of your posters and see them on the World Wide Web! Classes and groups submitting posters can receive stickers and a copy of McGruff’s new animated DVD “Samantha’s Choice.” Follow this link to see the flyer.
