What were they thinking when they put that ''circle'' on Brand? Are they planning on widening the road there? It is the silliest thing we have ever seen and it is just a recipe for trouble...
Brand is not so busy that you can't make a left or right onto it...why in the would would they put that there? Seems like the city must have EITHER too much money or TOO MUCH TIME on their hands.

traffic circle

I drove it the other day and ditto! This road on one side is district 8 - the older very narrow side, the other , wider new side is in another district . I cannot imagine how school buses and fire trucks - not to mention the RVs, the Expedtions and the lunatic drivers will handle it . I do not know how it was approved as each councilperson is always consulted by staff. I did describe it to a well known traffic engineer but I do not know if he was crying or laughing . We had no idea or consultation- Beats me!

Thank you Margaret

Margaret seems to have gotten 8 transporation men to look at this. This street, as well as Namman School Rd was on the 97 citzens street bond committee but dropped by staff and not pursued by council. There are NO plan for NS RD as the plan to 2015 does not include it.
Naamen Forest BLD will be extended to go to Brand also so traffice controls will be needed. The issue is , is this the best design. We all need to thank Margaret for looking into this.
Traffic Circle

It is a little confusing at first, as we dont see there very often in Texas. They are quite prevelent in other areas of the US and overseas. This design allows for Fire Trucks and Buses (if necessary) to actually drive over part of the circle in the event they have a need. The location of the circle should help slow down traffic going into the new home development. I have travelled in many cities and have experienced their traffic cicles, and ours are quite different. I think you will see more traffic circles (roundabouts) in the future, but they will be designed as part of the whole street theme, and not an addition like this one. I am for things like this that automate certain functions, like slowing traffic down! I am considering walking our neighborhood to see if some speed bumps can be installed to slow traffic down.

Thanks for your thoughts Margret.
