PBC (polybutylene) pipe problems / lawsuit?

Posted in: Salem Woods Maintenance Association

Anyone else in Salem Woods (or anywhere else) have any problems with the Polybutylene (pbc) water supply pipes ?  They're gray, plastic, and prone to frequent breaks.

I have them in my house, built in 1991, and just recently had a small, fortunately, leak.  Only cost $100 to fix but the plumber recommended replacing all the PBC pipes, at a cost of $1500-2000, becuase they are crap, leak /break a lot.

I only recently heard there was a class action lawsuit & settlement (http://www.pbpipe.com/)  but you have to file a claim & have a leak within 16 years of installation...which for me is 2007.  So I'm S.O.L.  i guess.

If anyone has any other info, let me know (email: mikefigielde@yahoo.com)

Try again, know of folks still getting this problem covered.Because not being original owners.Should have been told by inspectors/homeowner before settlement. Was a government forced recall, ongoing for more then 15 years.Talk with state reps. Good Luck.
