09-24-99 Defeat Broomfield; 2000

OK .... but

I understand, even agree, to much of what you say. Well, at least that the greatest good is that which benefits the most people. I think the real question is "who benefits from the formation of Broomfield City/County". Is it 30,000 citizens or is it corporations.

I also recognize that some - maybe even yourself - feel that the large corporation is more important than the collective citizenship - that the working class is the lower class - that the business owner is privledged; That the "greater good" is served by specific entities being in control (you know - like Hitler thought) I don''t agree.

But let''s say you believe in the authority of the citizens and not the corporations. Please take time to respond to these questions - show me a new way to look at this:

1. Do you think that the majority of citizens benefit from Broomfield becoming a City/County? If so, why - In what way do they benefit?

2. How much money did Interlocken and neighboring corporations contribute to the campaign for City/County - and why?

Please be honest - anything else is just an exercise in debating skills - I want to understand your point of view. (Also, I''ve heard all the campaign rhetoric, so spare me that - not even the Broomfield citizens believe that stuff anymore - just ask a few.)

Oh, and one more thing

I forgot to respond to your comment about the jail.
I don't care if I can see the jail or not. Trees, no trees, whatever...

I care about them dropping their releasees off at the bus stop 100 yards from my house. My 10 year old daughter rides her bike up and down that street. It seems strange to have to explain that to people. I can't believe people talk about the aestetics of the jail as if that matters.

But I guess as long as people keep talking about making the jail "look" better .... I'll keep saying "so what".

Well i understand what you are saying, but BF doesn't care what we want. They "say" we can be involved but dealing with them in the past is like dealing with a brick, no one listens. If you go back and read some of the crap that BF has done to its surrounding neighbors you will understand why we feel so strong about this. Heck, they are already moving ground and not taking the necessary precautions they promised us. Now you tell me who is playing fair her??
