Hi Joan

Joan, I would love to meet you at the open house ... but I'm not sure how we would know each other. And I'm not sure if I'll be going early or late - I have to work out some daycare issues.

Do you (or anyone else) know:
Has the Task Force has begun it's work?
How many and who's on the Task Force?
Are they setting up office IN Broomfield?
Will they provide periodic reports to the Gov? To the Public?
What types is the Task Force made up of? (Politicians, Attys, Accountants, Clerks?)

I am really John no Joan oh I am so confused. Oh, hell, what does it matter, we are all fighting the same issue, unethical govt and politicians.

Yes, the task force is set up, all funded by Interlocken of course.

To Br. Anon. - Response #1

Berens and Stovall have a right to respond to criticism. As I see it, their comments were in response to the compromise decision that moved the jail location from .5 to 11/2 miles from Countyside. Some of Countryside's residents were saying it was still too close to Countryside. Mayor Berens said if there were any interference with placing the jail at the compromise site, then it would be placed at the .5 mile site. As far as I know, it was a statement of fact. If others perceived it as a threat, so be it.
One of the points here is that Broomfield was not required to move the jail site further away from Countryside. It seems to me if Countryside's residents were truly so concerned about having a jail 1/2 mile away from Countryside, they would have thanked the Broomfield city council for the decision to move the jail further away from Countryside. I am not aware of any thank you's. All we hear from CVELG is that the jail decision was "unethical."
I understand that you and CVELG's members do not want to include the jail in the debate. I must tell you that I believe the jail decision is still an issue with CVELG. I base this on what CVELG's own members are currently saying: it's not the jail, it's the unethical way Broomfield made the jail decision. CVELG can't have it both ways. As long as CVELG keeps referencing the jail, then so must I.
As far a surveillance at the library, I am not aware of any such thing. I don't think that the City of Broomfield's officials give much credence to CVELG or to its current efforts. During the Mayor and Council debates, not one candidate even mentioned CVELG or the repeal efforts. CVELG does not have their attention. They don't seem to care what CVELG is doing. The only comment I heard was if CVELG is successful in getting the repeal on the ballot, they will fight it and if the repeal were to be successful, they would put the city/county question back on the next statewide ballot.
