Not True
BBW,
I have always had my doubts as to your ability to argue objectively about the city/county issue. But this last post is a lie. We stand IN THE DOORWAY of local stores and with their permission. We have NEVER "accosted" anyone in the parking lot. I will entertain the notion that this informant of yours lied to you and you are simply relaying the message. However, it is still not true. The attempt to vilify us will not work.

Most Likely
I was also confident that it was the "Chicken Little" family from that meeting. The daughter did not know how to pronounce many of the words in the speech that had been prepared for her. I thought that was rather amusing and quite indicative of how this matter has been pursued.

Our Duty
As I stated before, it is our duty to pose these questions when the actions of our leaders are clearly not in our best interests. It is one of the reasons why this country was founded. Has that thought escaped you still? Your only defense from such questions is to call them slanderous. You have yet to supply concrete answers to most of our questions. It is interesting to note that Bill Clinton used the same defense tactics until enough people were convinced of his offenses that he finally admitted them.

4 BBW
BBW, I want to appologize for my earlier post in reference to the woman and daughter who felt accosted by a CVELG petition circulator. I posted in anger, in a hurry going out the door to work, and in a defensive state of mind.
So after thinking this through, what I would like to say is that it is not CVELG's policy or desire to harrass people or even to change people's minds. It IS necessary for us to explain to people what our petitions are about in order to gain signatures from people who support our goal. And of course, it is necessary to approach people to do this explaining - they don't walk up and ask what we are doing. We are using methods that were recommend by the Secretary of State in a meeting we had with her on October 11 and feel we are not violating anyones rights.
When we are circulating petitions at store fronts, I personally approach people in a manner that I would not find offensive myself. I also have witnessed other CVELG members using circulating tactics that I consider to be respectful.
If your friend was approached and offended by ANYONE circulating a CVELG petition (CVELG member or not), I want to appologize for that. If she was physically accosted in this interaction, I think that it is important that I know more information, so I can stop whoever is doing this - obviously it is wrong and CVELG does not condone it. Please extend this appology to your friend for me and CVELG. And if you think it appropriate, I will gladly provide her with a written appology.
