Pawtucket police roll out online reporting system for crime
PAWTUCKET, R.I. -- The Pawtucket Police Department is introducing a website Monday for people to report minor crimes and other incidents.
The Citizens Online Police Reporting System at www.pawtucketpolice.com will allow people to report non-emergency crimes such as harassing phone calls, vandalism and minor thefts, as well as hazards such as broken street lights, abandoned cars or bullying.
The online reports will be reviewed by police, who will contact the complainants if further investigation is necessary. Lt. Roberto DaSilva said it will make reporting easier for the public, while keeping police informed about when and where incidents are occurring.
Mayor Donald Grebien said the system would "help keep our police officers on the street instead of being pinned down by paperwork."
