There is no single solution to stopping crime but there are proven solutions tha the whole community can apply.

1. The St. Paul Police Eastern District will be holding monthly evening meetings for residents on the 3rd Wednesdays of each month - starting in April 2007. Look on the calendar site for specifics.

2.Give ESNDC a call to inquire about programs that help homeowners fix their homes. While there are no grants - there may be programs that make repairs more feasible. Their number is 651-771-1152. Ask for Roxanne Young. She's great!

3. Traffic Studies with Traffic Engineering at Public Works. Public Works will be at the next CPED meeting the first Tuesday in April at 6:30 p.m. at the Arlington Public Library. They will be addressing other issues raised by local residents. There are ways that residents can petition for changes in their neighborhood.

Many people along the 1300 block of Payne have put up lawn signs to slow down traffic. We commend these efforts. This may be something that other neighbors can duplicate.

We are getting more cops on the East Side. Go to the 3rd Wednesday meetings to find out more.

A connected neighborhood is a safer neighborhood. We support block clubs and foot patrols as ways that neighbors build connections that create a safe place to live, work and play.

These suggestions are not to minimize any concerns but rather to suggest that there are starting points towards joint solutions in our community. Thanks for the posting. Clearly you care about your neighborhood!
