Hello to everyone in the ''HEART OF THE WEST SIDE'' neighborhood. As many of you know I have filed to run for the 137th district ( HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES ) I enjoy our time together at meetings and I believe as your State rep. I can serve the people in the HEART OF THE WEST SIDE community. I have been involved in the Woodland Heights neighborhood association for 8-9 years and have seen great improvements in our community. I am currentely a board member of the Urban Neighborhoods Association and as such i work with five N. W . Springfield. I also belong to the NORTH SPRINGFIELD BETTERMENT ASSOCIATION working to improve small business in NW Springfield.. . I have long thought that several additional neighborhoods should be represented in the UNA, TOM WATKINS and HEART OF THE WESTSIDE. Please let me know if this something that your members may want to consider. I do not know at this time if the city would allow the UNA to expand but if there is an intrest I will follow through. I will be attending your meetings in the furture if I am allowed to come and hear your comments .

Charlie we would love to have you attend our monthly meetings, also through the Heart of the West Side Community Center we have a Housing Subcommittee that has been working on housing issues in this neighborhood and have talked about UNA and wondering if somehow their boundaries could include our neighborhood.We also have a issue with a men's shelter being ran out of the Christian Foundation on Division that the city has denied a permit and were told to close but are not and may appeal this decision made by the city to the courts and stay in a building that is not up to code and is a safety hazard to the people staying in it for up to 2 years. There are several neighborhood residents that do no want this shelter here and want it closed now, anyway these are a few things going on here so as you can see we have things going on and would love to have you attend and any suggestions you have on the UNA including us in their boundaries or on what to do about this shelter situation would be very much appreciated.
