Next Board Meeting

Does anyone know if our Board is considering any significant expenditures [say in excess of $2000]for capital improvements and if so exactly what those expendiures might be? Does anyone know when the Board meets again [or has it met since February] and what the agenda for the next meeting is? thanks.
Next board meeting

The next board meeting is Thursday, June 6th at 6:30 pm at Frank Geis' house (you can find his address in the directory). There have been no board meetings since we last met on March 7th.

There is nothing on the agenda at this time in terms of considering the approval of any capital expenditure.

Agenda items include considering the possible switch of our lawn care provider, considering the need to repair some of the stone walls at the end of the cul-de-sacs, considering some issues surrounding the adjacent Highland on the Creek HOA and the small strip of land that buffers our two developments, and considering a formal policy for fines associated with any violations of our deed restriction covenants (such formal policy being required by a recent change in Texas state law).

As I am sure you can appreciate, not everyone can always attend the board meetings, even when they are publicized. However, the fact that not all of the homeowners are able to, or necessarily even want to, attend in person, does not mean that they forfeit their right to participate in the affairs of the HOA. Critical to that participation is the timely dissemination of information relating to the items being considered by the various HOA decision making sessions such as board and committee meetings. Thus, I would like to suggest that, at a minimum, in advance of any board meeting, the HOA secretary publish the agenda for the meeting along with a synopsis of the issues on the agenda. For example, I have no idea what the issue is regarding the Highland on the Creek HOA, or exactly what the board is considering vis a formal policy on fines. Moreover, I would further suggest that the minutes of the board meetings be published by the HOA secretary in a timely manner following each meeting. You may recall the heated debate about the fountain after it was installed. Many of the decision makers responded to the criticism that the opponents should not be heard to complain when they made no effort to participate. While that position might have had its flaws [which I won't get into here], I would have to concede that it was not entirely without merit. However, I believe that we virtually guarantee apathy, nonparticipation and, ultimately, dissatisfaction with the decisions that are made when information relative to those decisions is not timely disseminated such that meaningful participation is made possible.
