Edgewater Ave near Anthony Blvd. Flooding

Posted in: N Anthony Area

Is there anything we can do to keep my street from flooding everytime it rains?  I live near the corner of Edgewater and Anthony and it seems like the street floods everytime we have a strong rain.  I have lived here for a little over 2 years now and the first time I noticed a big storm I learned the hard way that this street floods almost every time.  I worked 3rd shift at the time so I was asleep while it was raining but when I went out to my car that was parked on the street to go to work it was submerged under water.  My insurance company said it was a total loss.  I was so upset.  It was a brand new car that I only had for a few months.  I've learned not to let my cars sit on the street when it rains.  My most recent problem is now after the sudden rainfall on Sunday, July 19 we have another problem.  The city storm/sewer drain started overflowing into my basement.  I had $5700 in damage from raw sewage coming back up into my basement.  This is ridiculous.  Why can't the city do something to fix this problem.  I'm sure I'm not the only person that has been having problems.  I'm really glad my insurance company has been working with me for this.  It really is a bad thing when you go into your basement and you see several inches of human feces and toilet paper surrounding your belongings.  If anyone else has these problems we need to get together and try to get something done about it.
