My son was driving home on Davies Plantation road, and he stopped to allow Deer to cross in front of him ................... without warning, another Deer suddenly came full speed into the side of his car, a Ford Escape SUV. The Deer impacted the car very hard on the driver side door and shattered all the glass, his window was fully up and this is what might have saved him from severe damage or worse. My Wife tried explaining to me that the area of impact was along Davies Plantation road and ALFRED Road. This is no surprise to me as we had been proactive in getting signs put up on Davies Plantation road to alert drivers to the presence of the many Deer that are proliferating in our neighborhoods.
I am very Thankful that my son is not badly hurt, but he did get some facial lacerations from the broken glass of the window that was shattered. The Deer is dead from the impact.
I want to follow up next week with communication to this Homeowner's Association and the City of Bartlett, in order to revisit this problem that is only getting worse in our neighborhoods and along Davies Plantation road. The fences along the roadside are clearly outdated and I believe we need something more effective to replace those old fences and more discussion on how to deal with the problem of the Deer.
