My comments here are two fold ......... First, we have too many folks driving through the neighborhoods here that THINK they are on HWY 64 ............. You are NOT !
The legal speed limit on the surface streets here in the neighborhoods is 30 MPH, not 300 MPH ! I especially am amazed at the OLDER CROWD that wants to pick up the pace around here, bad enough that the YOUNGER KIDS who just got their drivers licenses and NEW CARS are making it hazardous in some cases ................... Second, our streets are quite DARK at night around here of which I am not in agreement with due to the proximity of WILDLIFE and PETS that stray in our areas at night. If you are driving along and HIT AN ANIMAL here, please have the courtesy to at least CALL BARTLETT POLICE or SHELBY COUNTY SHERIFF and let them know ...................... Someone has to pick it up off the road or clean up the mess, no matter who is at fault.
I am not pleased that CITY of BARTLETT has a policy of NO SPEED BUMPS on surface streets, we need them around here because some of you cannot understand that SPEEDING through the neighborhoods is NOT AN OPTION.
I am glad to see that recent POSTS have yielded the LICENSE PLATE NUMBERS of those who have been spotted SPEEDING or other nonsense driving and I encourage that we keep that going. TODAY, I was almost hit HEAD ON by a young kid driving a DARK BLUE CHEVY TRUCK northbound on BRUNSWICK ROAD very close to the intersection of PEMBROKE-ELLIS .................. HE WAS TEXTING on his cellphone or some device, HIS HEAD and EYES were down and he was not watching the road ............... He did not respond to anything else other than my incessant car horn going off .................. and he never raised his head up to see what was going on !!!
DRIVERS ...............if this happen again, I promise you that I will give chase to YOUR vehicle and get the license plate numbers and follow you until the Police have you pulled over .....................GO AHEAD MAKE MY DAY :>
