Post me all your concerns! I have a great list given to me by a Deer park resident but I want to hear from as many people as I can and have a record of it to study and discuss. Many residents of Deer Park may not know yet about the proposed Car Wash at the old Isings Florist place. It would have been great to put that information in our last news letter, but we had already printed it two weeks before we got the news. DPNA website is the best way to keep updated. I'll be keeping you all informed with the best information I have.

NO car wash

I am writing to oppose the development of a car wash at the corner of Baxter and Stevens avenue. I believe that a car wash, even a ''nice'' car wash is not appropriate to this area and will have far reaching damaging effects on the entire neighborhood. The developers do not own the property yet, and I think they should move elsewhere with their idea. They have every right to make money, but not at the expense of our neighborhood. It is simply not right to tuck an automatic car wash back into a residential neighborhood. Most car washes are placed in predominantly commercial areas along busy boulevards. Even the car wash on Bardstown road seems a bit misplaced, but not to the degree that this one would be. The negative sides effects far outweigh the minute convince that would be afforded. The practical damaging side effects include traffic congestion/rerouting into the neighborhood, increased sewage and runoff, noise, air and light pollution, decreased property values and potential crime situations. Even if the developers were open to accommodating some of our concerns, there are many things out of their control, and if/when they were to sell, there is no guarantee the next owner would abide by any of the agreements. I believe that a car wash would help create an environment that would not be neighbor friendly or positive for our this entire area. I love the highlands. I am invested in my neighborhood. Please help in the fight to protect it.
Thank you.
Opposed to the car wash

I am opposed to the car wash and would like the president of Deer Park Association to know this.
Car Wash;Urban Mess

This proposed car wash is an astonishing state of affairs. What next? Never mind, this is bad enough.
This proposal is neighborhood inappropriate in the extreme sense.
The Highlands is a vintage neighborhood to be cherished, protected and enjoyed. Commercial ventures like this is the begining of the end our unique and PRICELESS evolution. A CARWASH at the corner of Stevens and Baxter is the begining of our DE-evolution as a thriving neighborhood that has withstood the tide of encroaching and depersonalized big business. It's ugly. It's inconsiderate. It would abuse the infrastructure. It has absolutely nothing to offer.
The insensitivity of this project is puzzling. Making money is great, but destroying everything in your path to get a hold of it is unconscionable.
