New to the neighborhood

We are soon to move to Greenfield Village. Could any newcomers let us know of their moving experience and landscaping issues? Thanks.

Landscaping Tips

The best advice on landscaping is to develop plans, document the plans, and then have them approved by the design review committee BEFORE starting the project. This applies to fence projects as well. Many residents have installed fences that are not in compliance with the covenants, and they will have to rip out their fences to comply.

Also, based upon my experience, avoid hiring Rainbow Landscaping. Some people may disagree, but generally the people who have hired Rainbow are NOT satisfied with the quality of workmanship or the customer service. They tore up my yard, only to lie about the entire situation. There are many reputable landscapers, who will gladly detail costs and follow a schedule; we even have some who live in Greenfield.

We had a good experience with Rainbow despite what others may say. I know of at least three others that were also very happy with them. However, the sales rep has changed and that may be the problem. The best advice is do not pay in advance except for materials and then only if necessary. We did not pay anything until the work was completed. Follow the guidelines in your HOA rules and get plans submitted now even before you close. That way your approval will be there soon after you close. You might also want to check Tom Martino's web site troubleshooter.com for companies he recommends.
Finally, welcome to the neighborhood you'll love it.
