To Pam
Perhaps John does have something valid to offer; who knows; I never experienced it on this board. I found BBW to be much more credible; personnally, if I am looking for any one in Broomfield; BBW is the person I find most interesting. For me; it was a pleasure having him on this board; I would also like to meet the members of CVELG.
I do not see this as a personal question; this as a review of the actions taken to become a county. This involved all Colorado voters; and the fact this group happens to live in Westminster is irrevalent. They are Colorado residents. Because Westminster lies in Adams county; the involvement of Adams County and the City of Westminster cannot be overlooked. Nor can the involvement of Boulder, Jeffco or Weld, even though most in Weld were involved on a miniscule level.
Who is responsible; everyone involved; BF council; BF citizens, the entire state government, Adams, Boulder, Jefferson, Weld counties; all neighboring communities, and state residents. Why, the right to ask questions was not exercised; you are familiar enough with the events (if you have been following this board) to not recap them here. How did we get here? Perhaps apathy is the best to describe it; a discussion someone named Joan and I had earlier with WW.
We just had an election where two of the most powerful men in BF ran for mayor. Was CVELG a part of their platform? No. Did anyone ask questions about CVELG? Beats me; I have not seen them challenged in public or in print. If this is about community pride; why was CVELG not mentioned? Beats me. However, I will say this much; with the gains that CVELG made at state; first; in winning the right to put the question on the ballot; and then, surviving an appeal; maybe, in my mind, it is worth supporting; not for the sole purpose of winning a county repeal; but the end result is to take a closer look at local governments to take a closer look at the processes in which they react.
I know you from your involvement in the community; my first awareness of your true concern was your picture on the front page with the prairie dogs. Since then I have paid attention to your letters to the editor; your efforts to involve the community; your total dedication to bring the community into the decision-making abilities that we have. You are definitely admirable; and I, for one, applaud your work. However, I have also seen you discounted; because you live in "unincorparated" ; as DiCero as stated and the mayor has stated; "unincorporated" means you are not a resident. This is wrong; you and I both know it. Perhaps, just perhaps, you can stay unincorporated and have an active voice; not be discounted. More than anything; you have been discounted just as CVELG has been discounted; and no person in America deserves to be treated that way.
