Well if you have been paying attention, its been going on for a very long time...try like election time last year..Its all part of Bill Berens empire and his feeding is very large ego!! For one thing, the way BF went about all of this was wrong!! Its pretty obvious by their actions that they DID NOT care where they put their jail and who it affected. They never had all the public meetings they claimed they did. At first it started out a a "jail" issue because it was too close to school, homes, rec center...etc...but now, it has everything to do with Ethics, something our government seems to lack these days!! Maybe if you do some reading, some research, you will join our efforts and help us get those signatures that we need.

Do Your Research - If You Care

Read your feasability study (2/98) - it clearly states that they should expect lots of controversy around jail siting.

Read the study that Broomfield Hyperlinked to their city website - the one they so often reference when they talk about how good a jail is for a neighborhood (I don't have the title with me right now). It clearly states that jail siting can insite high levels of anxiety, mistrust, etc. etc. It's largly the topic of that study to begin with.

Don't be naive .... Broomfield WELL knew what reaction to expect. They stated it themselves(feasability study, 2/98). That is one reason they chose GWR - so the reaction would be from people who can not vote for them. To put it in the center of their own city, where it belongs, would be political suicide for each of them.

I wouldn't call the jail a conspiracy ... I'd call it self serving politics. BF wins cause they've got the dirtiest politicians.

Ethics

I have an idea...
Let's each post our personal definition of ethics - even those of you don't share our vision.

Also, just to clarify: We talk about the jail here because we, in Countryside, care about the jail - it's being built 1.5 mile west of us against our wishes.

Repeal is about Repeal - Our justifications don't include a jail. But, believe me, we have justifications !!! If you don't know them now, I understand. 3 months ago, I didn't know a fraction of what I do now about the Broomfield City and County issue. And it has taken a LOT of work on the part of several people to find so much out. I hope we get a chance to share this info with EVERYONE !!! It's really a crime for everyone not to know.
