Any suggestions on what to do when a neighbor's barking dog keeps us awake past midnight and gets us up before seven? Repeated requests have been met with great concern, but the problem persists.

ONE QUESTION....
Have you spoken to the owner(s) of the dogs? I have seen situations where people call the city to issue a complaint, rather than talk to the owner directly about what can be done? |

Yep. First Thing We Did.
The dog owner said "Oh, thanks for letting me know. I'll do something about it." Yet very little has changed. This conversation occurs every few weeks but the dog barks every few minutes nonetheless. |

Turn the owners in
Do this only if what you say is true. There is one person on South Gilpin that complains about dogs barking during the day, claiming that he works during the day and dogs bother him. He goes door to door and tries to get supporters, but usually all he does is turn the person in or goes to the owner and yells explitives. One owner even had their dogs voice box taken out to satisfy this guy. My dog barks during the day at the mail man (cant figure out why) and when someone walks by, but never at night (he sleeps with us inside). I feel that this is ok because since it is not constant and it keeps some undesirable people away from my house. Barking after midnight and before seven, is NEVER ok. By Mychal |
