We need to clean up our alleys!

Dumpster Detail

I agree that we need more neighbors to particape in alley "detail". I've also noticed that the unfortunate person who has the dumpster in back of their house has to ALWAYS clean up after people, which includes closing the dumpsters (how lazy can one get!), putting large items IN the dumpster, "breaking down" cardboard boxes, and calling for large item pickups (they seem to think large items magically disappear)... Can East Wash Pk Neighborhood Assoc. help with the alley problems!?

Foolishly, I believe in magic

I know that anything that does not go INTO the dumpster does not get picked up. It took me awhile to recognize this, but now I do the "breaking down" that you mention. However, I am uninformed about large item pickup. Is there a particular schedule when large items near the dumpster are picked up? You mention "calling." I would guess the number is in the phone book but I never thought to call. Do you think the city could put stickers on the dumpsters? Could WE as a neighborhood get some stickers that say "if it ain't in the dumpster, it will sit in the alley for weeks unless you call large item pickup at (303) xxx-xxxx"? What do you think?

shouldn't the city do something?

Why isn't the city cleaning up all the broken bottles in the alley?

Why doesn't the city rotate where they place the dumpsters, so ALL OF THE NEIGHBORS would know what it's like to have a dumpster next to their yards. I too am sick and tired of picking up trash in my alley as the dumpster is directly behind my house.

Even though I am complaining here, I think it's worth a shot to have a clean up the alley weekend.

Who do we contact?
