Speaking as someone who has lived in this town for 16 years, and whose family has lived here for 17 (I was born only a couple of months after we moved), I have to ask, what has happened to this town recently? I remember walking through this town and waving at everyone and always getting a wave back. I remember knowing everyone I saw. I remember everyone being nice to each other. Not everyone waves back now, I don't know everyone I see, and not everyone is nice. What is happening?
For me, this whole ''Un-incorporate or not?'' thing has come a surprise. What is not surprising is from whom it has come from. Everyone who has called my family has been, compared to us and many others, new to this town. I heard through the grapevine that most of this came about due to the fact that the roads won't be paved. Well, let me think for a second here, last time I checked, the roads have never been paved, so that means when everyone moved to this town, they knew the roads were dirt. Why on earth did you move to a town with dirt roads only to complain about them? And why on earth are you asking to un-incorporate this town when you knew it was incorporated when you moved here? We already voted on this issue, the people who were here in 1994, the people who remember this town when the neighbors were always friends, we made Foxfield. If you don't want Foxfield, if you don't want dirt roads, if you want to create dissention where you live, don't un-incorporate Foxfield, un-incorporate yourself and move.

What has happened to our town?
#1 Poor management
#2 New residents forcing others to pay for water. In the old days when your well went dry you drilled a new one. Now, residents are only concerned with property values so that they can sell at a higher price. I agree let them move.
#3 The town was incorporated as a live and let live philosophy. We now have ordinances, that were passed by this present administration, which are unenforceable.
#4 Part time government officials can no longer handle the problems.

That is what happened to our town. Change is inevitable and as a 16 year old you will learn this in the future.

Progress

I remember when I moved to Colorado that Havana Street was dirt below Iliff. Let's face it, the passage of 7 years has changed Foxfield. We have more residents, more traffic, and more concerns than were apparent 7 years ago. And the sad fact is that the town is simply not equipped, financially, to deal with those changes. We don't have to lose our identity as Foxfield by un-incorporating (there is always the option of a neighborhood association). The attitude that anyone who doesn't like Foxfield as it is should leave, just isn't productive.

Maturity.
Because you are 16, and also judging by the tone in your letter, I am guessing that maturity is a concept you have yet to grasp. Read and learn.

Towns grow and mature. People grow and mature. You will grow and mature.

Has growth and change occurred because of closed-minded people telling anyone who disagrees with them to ''move away''? No.

Is the world an extremely volatile place in which growth and change occurs every single second? Yes.

Will we eventually adapt to change? Definately.

Convenience.
Guess what? That Old Navy, Starbucks, and movie theatre at Arapahoe Crossings was not always there, but I'm assuming it is convenient for you. It certainly is for me. Convenience occurs with change. Change occurs with growth.

Respect.
Respect our desire to have clean, safe roads. Respect your opinion enough to use your real name. Your attitude certainly does not make me want to wave at you when passing through the neighborhood. Think about it.
