DISCUSSIONS NOTES SURROUNDING CITIES ''Roads Mgrs''

CHERRY HILLS

MOST IMPORTANT THING = HAVE SOMEBODY on-site TO DO QUALITY CONTROL AS PAVEMENT IS LAID and rolled.

2O FOOT WIDE 4?” DEEP ?½ ASPHALT IS THE AVERAGE FOR CHERRY HILLS REGARDING DIRT ROADS (NON HEAVY TRUCK TRAFFIC)

Has used QUALITY PAVING BUT also WESTERN MOBILE AGGRAGRATE INDUSTRIES

WINNER OF PAVING BID HAS A 2 OR 3 YEAR WARRANTY

*** GET A VERY, VERY LONG WARRANTY (A LOT LONGER THAN 2 OR 3 YEARS)

IF ROADS HAVE NOT BEEN MAINTAINED PART OF THE BID HAS TO BE GETTING THE ROAD BASE UP STANDARD SO THERE IS ENOUGH ROAD BASE 3-4?” NEED TO BE LAID FOR THE ASPHALT TO BE LAID (PREPPING ROAD) IF NOT PREPPED THEN 4.5?” ?– 5.0 IS NECESSARY FOR THE TRAFFIC ON OUR ROADS. 19?’ ROADS MAY BE ALL we need for OUR TRAFFIC AND WOULD ALSO ASSIST IN TRAFFIC CALMING.

SPEED CONTROL

STOP SIGNS DO NOT WORK. BUMPS, HUMPS AND DIPS SLOW DOWN EMERG VEHICLE REPSONSE, NOISY FOR PEOPLE LIVING NEAR THEM UNLESS THEY LIVE WITHIN 90 FEET OF ROAD but also slow traffic considerably.

STANDARD INDUSTRY DIMENSIONS TO THE BEST OF HIS RECOLLECTION:

BUMP = 12?” WIDE X 3?” TALL (BIG BUMP IN PARKING LOT)
HUMP = 4?” WIDE X 4?” TALL PAINTED TO SLOW DOWN BUT STUDIES SHOW THAT HUMPED STREET ARE FASTER THAN NON-HUMPED STREET. PEOPLE SPEED UP BETWEEN THEM.
DIPS = FIDDLERS GREEN HAS THE BEST DIPS IN AREA

300 FEET SHOULD BE THE DISTANCE BETWEEN SPEED controls. Further distance IS A WASTE OF MONEY

MAINTANENCE:

CRACK SEAL ONCE EVERY 3 YEARS ON EVERY AND ANY STREET. PREVENTATIVE MAINTANENCE. YEAR 9 DO SOME TYPE OF SEAL COAT THEN every 7 YRS DO SOME TYPE OF SEAL COAT (CHIP SEAL OR SLURRY SEAL OR MICRO SURFACING OR 2?” OVERLAYS)

CITY OF ENGLEWOOD

SLURRY/MICROSURFACING ?’87, ?’88, ?‘89 THEY DON?’T NEED TO BE DONE YET

SAID DISTANCE SPEED CONTROL SHOULD BE EVERY 300 OR IT WOULDN?’T BE EFFECTIVE.
STOP SIGNS DON?’T DO A THING.

LITTLETON:

RESIDENTIAL STREET ARE 20 FEET

DEPTH OF ASPHALT 4?” ?– 6?”
