Des Moines Historical Society

Please post any thought or ideas you have about the Des Moines Historical Society. As a new organization we want everyone to feel this is their organization and they can have a part in developing it.

I seek historic photos.  I am hoping to find pictures of the lovely St. Gabriels Monastery for Passionist monks that was on the corner of Merle Hay Road and either Douglas or Hickman.  When I was a boy in the 1930s I loved it and picked mulberries from the trees lining the drive.  It was black granite or marble and quite lovely.
