Dove Meadows was started in 1993 by Hallmark Enterprises. The community was developed in 4 phases and consists of 308 homes. Construction was complete in approximately 1998.

The original builder was Dover Homes but, later, some Kaufman & Broad homes were built to complete development.

The community is separated by a large, city-owned, drainage ditch. There are five entrances into the community.
