Topics of Discussion
• Dangerous situation because of unsafe drivers at school arrival and dismissal time at Watts Elementary. Signs not being heeded, speeding vehicles making unsafe situation for children, etc. Officer Duprat contacting ISD Police to patrol area.
• Question was raised regarding whether or not Schertz Police have jurisdiction over the pool and pavilion area even though it is private property. If something unsafe, disruptive, or illegal is going on, it is a police matter and can be dealt with.
• Curfew for Minors Weekdays 11pm
Weekends 1am
• Graffiti on Dove Meadows sign at back entrance Phase I on Silvertree. Officer Duprat asked that it not be removed until Schertz Police can photograph the vandalism.
• Dove Meadows residents continue blocking the sidewalk with their vehicles.
• Committee is interested in having a neighborhood-wide National Night Out function. National Night out is set for Tuesday, August 5, 2008.
• Discussed actively helping to recruit more Block Captains. Set minimum goal of 1 Block Captain per street.
Tips from Officer Duprat
• Lock your car. There are more car burglaries than thefts in this area. Don’t make it easy for them.
• Test your home security system. Do you have an exterior alarm siren box so people outside of your home can hear if there is trouble?
• The citizens of Dove Meadows are the eyes and ears for the police department. The police cannot be everywhere at once. If something looks amiss, it probably is; Call it in.
• Consider enrolling in the Citizens on Patrol Program/ the Citizens Police Academy (August) To find out more contact Officer Duprat at the Schertz PD.
