"There are words inside
trying to get out
some want to whisper
some want to shout!"
These are the first words of a poem about writing by Jan Coyne-Henkel, member of Downriver Poets & Playwrights of Wyandotte, MI.
Each first and third Tuesday of the month those of us who have "words inside, trying to get out" meet at the Wyandotte City Hall and share our works and thoughts.
For many, writing is a release, and a kind of therapy. When we are able to put on paper the emotions that are causing us pain, we are able to free ourselves of some of the hurt we feel. Even if we write about what bothers us and tear it up and throw it away, we still feel a sense of relief.
Some of this type of writing we are able to share and in the sharing, find those who can relate and often give support to us. Also we may be helping others who have felt that they were alone in their situation.
Besides being necessary to some of us, and a form of therapy to others, WRITING IS FUN! Come on down! Join our group and see what we mean.
Many of our members keep us laughing with their literary humor. There is humor in almost any subject and we sure have had a good sampling of it in poems shared at P&P.
WE HOPE YOU WILL BE ENTICED TO VISIT AND SEE FOR YOURSELF WHAT POETS & PLAYWRIGHTS IS ALL ABOUT.
