A DRONE hovered over our backyard yesterday while my children and grandchildren were in the pool. Just out of reach (I mean, nothing short of a shotgun could have reached it), it hovered over the yard for 5-10 minutes. It flew away, and then returned. I tried to see where it might go when it left, but these things can come from a long way off in any direction.
A quick Google search reminded me that it is not lawful to shoot down a drone since the FAA allows them, but calls them civil aircraft.
This is wrong in so many ways. We need to update the laws to allow homeowners some kind of privacy in our airspace.
As for combatting the problem, I hope someone has some suggestions. If I use a paintgun to try and hit the thing, I might miss and someone's house gets splattered. Not good. One idea is to get my own drone to follow the nuisance to determine the source owner. Then perhaps we could have a conversation. Or maybe a battle drone. Start a Drone Protection Service. What can be done about this incredibly invasive problem?
