I just wanted to make everyone aware of something that recently happened to me. I live in the Reese/Midland area. Last night a friend of mine had parked his car on the street directly in front of my house. When he went to leave someone had slashed one of his tires with a knife. I spoke with the MPD regarding this incident and while it is impossible to find the person who did this, he did report to me that there had been several instances of this same crime that occured in the Orange Mound area a couple of weeks ago.
Unfortunately, crime is inevitable. I am not sure if this would have happened at all if the car had been parked in the driveway verses the street, I want to believe that it would have helped. The tire that was slashed was on the street side, not the sidewalk side. I just wanted to make everyone aware of this and wondered if anyone had known of this happening. The only we can stop it is to watch out for each other
