To improve our quality of life by promoting civic interest. Maintaining general community improvements and providing a medium through which residents in the East Columbus boundaries may seek satisfactory solutions to community problems.
The East Columbus Civic Association was founder over 50 years ago by concerned residents who wanted to improve our community. Now, 50 years later, many of the faces have changed but the mission remains the same……………
Organization
The East Columbus/Krumm Park residents and civic members elect civic association officers annually. The East Columbus Civic Association is governed by the ECCA Board of Trustees.
The ECCA Trustees are nominated by their peers and are appointed to the board for a period of two years.
Annual Dues = $12.00 per person

In 1998 Our community identified several action steps to be implemented
to further empowering the residents and the civic association.
Goals included;
1. Officially becoming a Not for Profit organization
2. Opening a resident run Community Center
3. Developing a comprehensive Community Policing Plan
4. Providing numerous avenues for residents to participate in strengthening neighborhood ownership
5. Make great strides in addressing infrastructure conditions
6. Provide training and resources to the community leaders & residents
1. In 1998 the ECCA opened the Community Center
2. In 1999 the ECCA became a 501 3c Not for Profit organization
3. In 1999 ECCA members participate in several training programs including grant writing, volunteer training and community policing.
4. In January 2000 Mayor Mike Coleman confirmed the City of Columbus’s $18 million storm water project for the neighborhood. The project includes numerous infrastructure improvements.
5. In Feb 2000 The EC Block Watch unveiled it’s community policing strategic plan. The plan was approved by the Columbus Compact May 2000
6. In August 2000 The Community Center started an afterschool & computer classes for area residents
