You have the choice of pickup by city by putting them out on the 13th for pickup on the 14th.
If not this week you will have to wait until the 27th for a 28th pickup.
No Yard Waste will be picked up the week of MLK JR Day 1/19/26.
Plan accordingly. You can always take the tree yourself to compost central, or Foxhole in South Charlotte at the SC line. Hickory Grove and North Mecklenburg full service centers also take yard waste.
- Leaves, brush and grass clippings
- Clean pallets less than 5' in length (not painted or treated are considered as yard waste)
- Limbs less than 5' in length
- Bamboo less than 5' in length
- Small root-balls that are smaller than a basketball
- Trees with diameters up to 24 inches are accepted at Hickory Grove and North Mecklenburg recycling centers
- Trees with diameters up to 48 inches are accepted at Compost Central and Foxhole Recycling Center
The rules above apply to full service self drop off centers in Mecklenburg County. City of Charlotte and towns in Mecklenburg county have their own rules for yard waste pickups that will differ from county self drop off.
