WELCOME to Eagle Eye (Grid 18) Neighborhood Watch!!
We hope you find this website very useful over the coming years. It is your website for obtaining and distributing information relevant to our neighborhood --- from questions &/or answers about suspicious activity or how to get assistance from the city for trimming trees to cast more light for safety, to announcements of upcoming yard sales or the school's SAC meeting. To have any information along these lines added to this web page, please contact your block leader or the web site administrator. You can add events to the calendar page and to the discussion page without our assistance once you have been authorized by the web administrator.
We want this web site to be maintained in a manner that reflects your needs. We have started out by including items which we felt would be of interest to everybody, in addition to reports of a safety nature. In this economy, we felt that free &/or reduced cost activities would be of interest to all -- such as the free movies & concerts in the park offered during spring, summer and fall. We also want to help everyone save a buck (including ourselves) and have included info &/or web links on landscaping your yard in a Florida Friendly manner -- meaning the use of native plants to increase their survival as well as reduce their use of water for maintenance, and the use of a compost pile and rain barrels (which you can obtain for free from the County Extension Office once you have attended a workshop on the subject). It's an inexpensive hobby, gets you some fresh air and exercise, plus it improves our neighborhood values and esthetics. Gives you the opportunity to visit with your neighbors at the same time.
Visibility is the key to keeping down criminal activity. See and be seen. Know your neighbors, have contact numbers for them. Know when a strange vehicle is parked in their driveway while they are at work -- don't just assume that they have company. Call 911 or TPD's non-emergency number (231-6130) to report ANY suspicious activity -- pedestrian or vehicular. If it turns out to be nothing, that's OK. At least folks will know that we are watching out for each other. And increased police presence never hurts.
Your EAGLE EYES and EARS are the best deterrent to crime!!!!
Our NHW group meets quarterly. Our next meeting will take place at the end of April (exact date will be announced shortly). We always meet in the same location: at Forest Hills Presbyterian Church in Larrick Hall (the same hall where you go to vote), usually the last Thursday of the month.
