On Saturday, April 25th, at approximately 3:00 p.m., homes in New Tampa were burglarized by means of entering open garage doors. Unlocked vehicles that were inside the garages were entered and items taken. Due to the prompt action of TPD & great witnesses, all the juveniles were arrested. Please see the information below entered into our DIL (Daily Incident Log) by Sergeant Preyer. Details: Four juveniles used one of their parents' vehicles to commit several burglaries of open garages and automobiles in the Pebble Creek area located in Hillsborough County, just outside the city limits. The suspects then entered Hunters Green, in the city limits, and committed two burglaries of open garages and a burglary of an unlocked car. Numerous witnesses came forward and described the suspects, but no vehicle was observed. Air Service was notified and Captain Wolff requested that the D2 SAC Squad respond to the area. The suspects then drove to the West Meadows area and entered an open garage along with the two unlocked vehicles in it. They then entered an unlocked truck parked in the victim's driveway. Alert witnesses called 911 and provided the defendants' descriptions and most importantly, the description of the suspects' vehicle. Sergeant Baxter, of the SAC Squad, was in the area driving an unmarked truck and observed the suspects' vehicle. He called out the direction of travel and followed the vehicle. With the assistance of marked units, three juveniles were arrested inside the vehicle. A court ordered search warrant was obtained for the vehicle and additional stolen property recovered. Further investigation led to the arrest of the 4th juvenile who was involved in these crimes. All the juveniles were arrested and transported to JAC. Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office detectives responded to the scene to investigate the crimes the defendants committed in their jurisdiction. Sergeant O'Connor and Detective Bishop were advised of this incident via cell phone. Captain Wolff monitored this incident and responded to the arrest scene. All four juveniles live in close proximity of these crimes. These arrests would not have been possible if not for the excellent descriptions provided by the citizens. Please remind your neighbors to keep their garage doors and vehicles closed and locked, especially if they are busy on the inside of their house. Also, keep valuables out of sight and secured.
