What is a Trash Trooper?
-A private citizen who is empowered to "DO SOMETHING" about the thoughtless actions of others that are harming our environment.
-A trash trooper is a person who reports highway/roadway litterbugs. They record the vehicle tag number, color and type of vehicle, when and where the violation took place, and what was tossed out of the vehicle. Trash Troopers are instructed never to confront the violators but to turn the violator's information into Keep Hillsborough County Beautiful (KHCB) via online report or Trash Trooper Litter Hotline 1-877-Y-LITTER or 1-877-954-8837.
-The KHCB office staff will obtain the vehicle information from the Tag Office and will write the offenders a warning letter. The warning letter outlines the Florida anti-litter statutes and penalties for the violation. These violations include throwing a cigarette butt or other trash out of the car window, debris blowing or falling out of an improperly covered vehicle and illegal dumping. Be a Trash Trooper!
