During the past several weeks, there have been a large number of call-ins to TPD for "Suspicious Persons" and "Suspicious Vehicles" from our grid as well as Grid 10 (due north of us, the other side of Linebaugh). THAT'S EXCATLY WHAT THE POLICE WANT TO SEE !!!!
This tells TPD that the residents in this area are keping their eyes open for unusual activity. They say that is the best deterrant to crime-- for neighbors to watch out for each other & each other's homes. Far better to see suspicious persons & report them, then not to see them and have them commit a crime. Good job, Neighborhood Watch!
But after you pat yourselves on the back, don't become lax. It's gonna get worse before it gets better.
I know you get tired of hearing this, but we can't seem to say it enough:
KEEP YOUR DOORS & WINDOWS TO YOUR HOUSES LOCKED.
HAVE SECURITY LIGHTING IN PLACE AND FUNCTIONAL.
KEEP YOUR VEHICLES LOCKED WITH YOUR VALUABLES OUT OF SIGHT.
USE AN AUTOMOBILE SECURITY DEVICE, SUCH AS THE CLUB.
PARK IN WELL-LIGHTED AREAS.
And last but not least:
SEE AND BE SEEN.
These 6 steps are the best way to keep from becoming a victim to a crime.
