Thank you to everyone who came to our last meeting, we had a record turn out! TPD sent Sgt. Gamsen, Sgt. Flynn and another Sgt (sorry, I don't remember her name!) to come and answer questions. We discussed new sidewalks that are being installed on Ashley from Bougainvillea to Linebaugh, I passed out the crime stats for our grid from June to present, we've been fortunate that there really hasn't been much going on.. alot of it is associated w/the businesses in our grid. Some of the crimes that we have had taken place are due to unlocked cars, sheds and so on. We've had wallets taken from unlocked cars, personal property taken from unlocked sheds and so on.. we have to remember to secure our property as well as take down serial #s, save receipts, even engrave your bikes, lawnmowers, etc w/serial #s so that TPD can return it to you in the event that it's been stolen.
Please use the www.tampagov.net website to report things like, trash or high grass in empty houses, semi trucks parked consistently on the side of the road, any kind of code enforcement issue, if you don't have computer access, you can always call.
The coke van is still out there cruising the neighborhood.. one neighbor was able to provide us w/an accurate tag # (thanks, J!) - we now know who they are, we just have to call the police when we see them cruising. It's highly possible they are connected some other suspicious activity.... detectives have been assigned, TPD is waiting for our calls.
School is starting back up 8/25, we've semi- assembled a task force in conjunction w/Forest Hills elem and TPD to control traffic and parking that affects our neighborhood the first couple weeks of school - please let me know if you're interested in participating.. we need the help! Over all, great meeting, great turn out, all of you are the best!! Not sure if we'll have a meeting towards the end of the year w/the holidays fast approaching, I'll keep you all updated as we get through the last of the year.. I will also post updates to this site, so pass the word to your neighbors if I do. As always, holler if you need anything, have any questions, etc. Keep your eyes open, call the police for anything remotely suspicious and keep up the good work! The only way we're going to keep our 'hood safe is if we all work together.
