It appears that a group of individuals are presenting themselves as "Verizon" or "Brighthouse" employees. These individuals are going door to door, their intentions are not know at this time. Neighboring Law Enforcement agencies have a few documented cases were citizens called in to report suspicious behaviors of individuals entering their neighborhood and going "door to door" under the above pretenses. To our knowledge, there have not been documented crimes, however let this e-mail serve as a important reminder.
- Always check and verify the identity of persons attempting to engage you at your home.
- Don't open the door, speak to them through a closed door or window until you are certain of their purpose. Always ask to see ID. If you are still suspicious, ask for the name of their supervisor, and call ; ask to speak to him/her. If they act uncomfortable about you asking for their supervisor, be sure your door is locked and immediately call the police to investigate whether or not they are legitimate.
- If someone's behavior makes your feel uncomfortable...listen to that instinct...call the Police and have the person checked out. This can be accomplished by calling 9-1-1 or non-emergency Police at 231-6130.
