Recently had a neighbor spot 3 men in an unmarked van stop and rummage through his neighbor's garbage can at the curbside. The guy went through 2 cans until he found a piece of paper, at which point he stopped rummaging and drove away, taking the paper with him.
This neighbor flagged down an un-marked police cruiser and reported the incident, telling the officer what nearby convenience store the van had then proceeded to. The officer went to the convenience store to confront the rummagers; outcome unknown. The rummagee was notified by the neighbor who witnessed the event.
Do you throw away personal papers? Or do you destroy anything that can lead to identity theft? Most folks either shred or burn those types of receipts, papers, etc.
Identity theft can happen to anybody. Don't let it happen to you.
