Eagle Eyes (Forest Hills Grid 18)

HAVE YOU SEEN US????

Posted in: Eagle Eyes - Forest Hills Grid 18

Your NHW group is once again patrolling your grid! We will be making rounds at unscheduled times to hopefully help send crime elsewhere.

If you see any suspicious vehicles or people walking around the neighborhood, DO NOT HESITATE to call TPD! Even if you suspect it may be Mobile Patrol -- don't assume! ALWAYS report suspicious activity to TPD. We notify the shift lieutenant when we are making rounds, so he will advise you as to whether there is a Mobile Patrol activity in progress; if there isn't, TPD will send a cruiser out to investigate. Please note that we will be identified as Mobile Patrol participants when we are taking part in this activity.

Also, we will be evaluating situations within the neighborhood that, by our experience in working with TPD in crime prevention, you might receive a notice about. If you receive a handout on crime prevention techniques on one side and a letter to you about a situation we have noticed involving your home/property, please do not take offense -- we are simply making suggestions based on what others in the community have done to help thwart crime. If we see a situation which appears that it may compromise your safety, we only want to bring it to your attention. Conversely, if you have suggestions for ways to help make our neighborhood safer, please let us know about them.

ALSO -- if you have any concerns or would like to participate in these Mobile Patrols, please contact us via our NHW web site or send an email to Aquarius9721@VERIZON.net

As always . . . . thank you for your cooperation.

We have been covering Grids 18 & 10 on these rounds. So far everything appears quiet.

One thing we have noticed is that both grids are looking better in appearance than before. The yards are better kept (no obvious debris lying around or clutter, or severely overgrown lawns). There is still a problem on the main streets with litter (primarily along Ola, closer to Chamberlain) and a few houses with privacy fences which haven't owned up to their responsibility of maintaining the parkway behind the fences. Code Enforcement says that it is the homeowners' responsibility to maintain the parkway areas associated with the houses - but we realize that when it's hidden by a 6 foot privacy fence it is easy to forget about - so please pay attention to this. We don't bring this up to nitpick; overgrowth of weeds & brush catches more litter & makes the area look unkempt, which attracts the criminal element into the neighborhood. That is our concern.

If you have a recurring issue with traffic - speeding, noisey exhaust, overly loud stereo systems - please notify us. Try to pin down a pattern of the times that the issues come up.

Overall good job, folks!

Oh, one other thing: please remember for your own safety, that city code requires that there  is a house number posted so that first rsponders can easily find your hous in an emergency. The address numbers should be at least 3 inches tall and in contrast to the background; preferably reflective for easy visibility in the dark. "The life you save may be your own!"
