Theodore Payne Foundation Open House
Sunday, 28 March 10am-4pm
926 South Citrus Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90036
(323) 933-6660

Attend this open house event and talk with docents about this native plant garden in the Los Angeles Basin urban setting. This is a model wildlife habitat, a natural oasis in a decidedly ?“un-wild?” setting. See how one person re-created a habitat by bringing together basic habitat concepts of food, water, shelter, and nesting places to share his home with California resident as well as migratory species. Four years after his initial efforts, this sustainable urban wildlife habitat has become a ?“must see?” for some travelers on the Pacific Flyway.

Current ESSI-NWF Habitat Steward Trainees are encouraged to stop in for a visit. You can see Garry's fantastic project up close and personal---the slide show couldn't really do it justice.

Those unable to make the first workshop should:
A) contact Saifon Lee to complete the registration process (with your completed application form and $35 registration fee);

B) attend workshop #2 on Sat, 27 Mar,

C) If you can attend the open house and you can combine that with online ''Wildlife University'' time to make up for the missed time.

Print out this page, then et the answers to the following questions, get a Theodore Payne docent's witnessing signature, and bring it to the following workshop (#3) :

What is the National Wildlife Federation Backyard Wildlife Habitat Certification number for the site of the Open House?

Who is the owner of the house?

If the area around this house would have remained undeveloped, what is the name of the type of native California vegetative community you would expect to see?

For that native California vegetative community, what are the prominent indicator species? (Go to the Internet and search out information about those plant species. Print them out along with the Internet source for that data.)
