Edgemoor Neighborhood Association Meeting
Minutes from 02/21/02
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Terese Hilliard.
There was no tonnage report available yet from the sanitation pick-up but it was considered to be a successful event.
Treasurer?’s report indicated that there was a balance of $704.11 as stated by Richard Strack.
CPO Jason Deary gave his report for the East section of our neighborhood. He reported that there were no violent crimes reported in the last month for our area. He has been riding a bicycle for some of his patrols and has found it to be very effective, especially when coming up to loud stereos in the park and teens hanging out. Bicycles are not as visible as cars in these cases.
CPO Joe Troung gave his report for the West section of our neighborhood. He reported that there were 2 felony calls in the last month, one involved a Burglary and the other involved a Car Theft. He also informed us that there is another Auto Theft Presentation coming up soon where FREE Clubs will be given out. He told us that he would get the information on the date and time for us.
Both CPO?’s reported on the continuing effort to rid us of prostitution on 4th St. They continue to be very active in this problem and were even lucky enough in one case to arrest someone for 100 rocks of crack cocaine also.
We were informed about a Court Watch Program in which volunteers are needed to go to the court hearings and monitor the events of the proceedings. It is thought that if there are interested people in attendance there might not be such a revolving door as far as prostitutes are concerned?…in one minute, out the next.
Chuck Harmon our new police Chief was also there to talk to us. He informed us that we live in a very low crime area and that we seem to have more of a problem with quality of life issues rather than crimes. For example the over use of Puryear Park and the traffic result of both that and Canterbury School. He also told us that he is trying to be an active listener to learn the concerns of all of the neighborhoods.
Terese reminded us of the water changes that are to go into effect the first of May. This is when our water quality will change from chlorine treated to chloramines treatments. This will affect our fish tanks and kidney dialysis equipment along with some other issues.
Meeting was adjourned at 9:00 P.M.
