I presume that is fully-burdened (salary + benefits) Key questions: - Will it actually save money (when "extras" are factored - overtime, etc.) - Will there be any "shrinkage" issues? (i.e. things stolen)

They have reduced spending relative to last year, but they still have a 3.23 percent real-estate tax hike due to cuts in state funding. (Note that SFASD "millage rate", i.e. the % tax per $1,000 in appraised value, is still among the lowest in our area).

Let's see, how much could we save if we outsourced the teachers? Make tenure and salary contingent on performance, bonuses for learning versus test taking. No, it will never work. If they were privatized, they'd have to pay part of their pension and benefits. It will never fly on that issue alone. |
