As mentioned in the Association Formation Flyer, July 2008, which was kindly distributed to everyone in the neighborhood recently, there are supposed to be elections of Civic Association officers soon.  I'd like to hear resident thoughts on that.  For instance, how would elections best be conducted?  When would be the best time and why?  Does everyone understand why an association is being formed and is comfortable with it?

I think it's a good idea.  It should give the residents a more formal voice with the developer and builders and local government.  The ad hoc groups that have been working on our behalf have done a great job and should be thanked, but theirs is a difficult task--without some formal organization, it's very difficult for these folks to communicate with the rest of us to pass along information or to ask our opinions.  I imagine it's quite frustrating at times.

Those good people are the same ones advancing the formation of an association, and I think it's an excellent move.  We won't be handed control of the HOA for at least a few years, so establishing a civic association gives us a formal organization to improve the lines of communication.
