Hi, I am a homeowner at Embry Crossing and have been since 2007. I completely gutted the condo right down to the walls and worked very hard to ensure that the inside was very comfortable, homey, clean, updated with all the latest trends...such as stainless appliances, granite countertops, hardwood floors, complete overhalls on both bathrooms, all new sheetrock, lighting, doors, double hung energy efficient windows, and beautiful neutral colors and decorated to look like you stepped into a Crate and Barrell cataloge. My problem is the outside of the buildings! They just do not measure up to the potential on the onside and even though the economy is horrible right now, it's still no excuse to allow our hard earned 180.00 dollars a month (which is very high for these places!) to just go wasted! Now granted, Rose Mary has contacted me to help pick out flowers and such for the front since I'm an interior decorator, but she's only given so much flexibility and budget to spend and make decisions!
My biggest complaint is that we are an "Association", correct? If so, then how do SO many people get away with putting up sheets, God forbid, or pink or blue cheap blinds in their windows when the whole reason behind it is that they ALL look the same from the outside to visitors and potential consumers. Now, I was told that I had to have white blinds, even the nice wooden kind, was not able to have a say in the horrible new choice of that electric blue for the shutters and doors, still don't have ANY flowers, shrubs, ect..., not to mention that whomever did the paint job, well, let's just say a two year old could've done a better job!
I am so sorry to complain and bitch like this, I'm certainly NOT usually one of "those people", but someone needs to take control that knows what they are doing, spend the money on things that really matter, and quit trying to save a few dollars by going with the cheapest person or company that they can! The quality definitely shows...sometimes we can get by with paying less and things looking expensive or even lasing longer, but most ofter "you pay for what you get"! I had a very expensive brand new door put on my condo along with all new brass ( because I was forced to), even though brushed nickle is much more classy and popular, right down to the kickplate, the door knocker, the peep hole, the mail slot, EVERYTHING! Just to have those terrible, sloppy painters leave runs, drop blue paint all over the steps and molding into the door, they got paint all over most of the new brass (because I guess it never occured to them to remove it BEFORE they painted)!
Anyway, like I said, I'm sorry, but I'm terribly frustrated with SO many things about this property, mostly relating to the HOA, so hopefully this will at least get you guys thinking on the correct path. I could go on and on, but I'm tired of hearing myself, as well!
The one other thing I will say is that the pool is an embarrassment! Now most likely, several of the other homeowners may not feel this way at all and could care less about any of this, but those are exactly the kind of homeowners and renters that you are going to continue to get if you continue to give everyone this awful first impression! That's a fact and I'm quite sure that you'd like to stay in business, correct? Please quit repairing things "half ass" and just covering up things just so that you have to do it again in no time, when if you would just do it correctly the first time and put a little extra cash into the projects, they would last a lifetime....or at least yours and mine, that is!
My address is 3553-B Old Chamblee Tucker Rd, Doraville, GA, 30340 and I would be glad to of any assistance with anything when it comes to these properties! Please don't hesitate to call me at704.957.9872! I have a ton of wonerful ideas for the place that don't necessarily cost a ton of money.
I certainly did my homework before purchasing this unit, or I would not have put that kind of money into it and I can promise you that this is an "up and coming" area! They are pushing the minorties out (government assisted), building nicer business', and tearing down the "getto" looking properties, so bascially my LONG point is this...We ALL want to make money, so we have to stand out, take pride in our community, go over and beyond the buyers expectations, and last, but not least...stick to the guidelines for goodness sakes, at least! Don't make exceptions for those awful window treatments and all that "crap" on the front and back porches of most of the condos! It's not fair to the ones of us that DO follow the rules and take care of our places. I was told when I bought the condo that it was going to be a requirement soon for everyone to install the new double hung white windows, so I went ahead and replaced mine during the construction....it only made sense, but that seems to have gone into thin air? Hmmm?
Please help and thank you in advance for listening to me ramble! Hopefully I will hear back from you as I'm sure you follow up. Bottom line guys...if you allow the tenents and owners to ignore the rules and let our community look like trash, then that's excatly what you're going to get there....TRASH!
Sorry, one more thing...I just wanted to bring to your attention that when people enter into our community off of Old Chamblee Tucker Rd., they see some of the worst of what's there. If they come in off of Old Chamblee, they come by the pool, the terribly stinky trash can, and then our units on the left and the other nice ones on the left where sweet Pat lived for so many years! My point here is that pretty much after that first entrance, it just gets really bad looking or worse shall I say and the address actually brings most people in the other way. Just a thought, is all. It's time to finally make some big and good decisions for everyone concerned, please! Policies are put into place for a reason, not to be ignored or not taken seriously. Have a great weekend!
I certainly hope that I have not offended anyone, as that is CERTAINLY not my intention! It's just that 130,000 K is a LOT of money to me! Thanks again!
Very Truly Yours,
Maria C. Low
