What: Empower LA 2009 A Congress of Neighborhoods is a gathering of Neighborhood Council members and stakeholders that is open to all the people of Los Angeles.
Purpose: To empower those who attend through providing contacts, information and strategies that will increase people’s involvement in improving the quality of life in their communities and impacting decisions made in the City of Los Angeles as a whole.
Who: The Mayor, City Council members, Neighborhood Council leaders and other major civic leaders and stakeholders.
Where: The Congress will take place this year on Saturday, October 10 at City Hall, located at 200 N. Main Street in downtown Los Angeles.
How: The Congress will consist of programs in formats designed to appeal to differing groups with differing needs and interests from across the City. Formats may include panel and roundtable discussions, training sessions, town hall meetings and one-to-one conversations.
Major Goal: To reach out to and include communities and individuals who have not taken part in the Congress in the past and to engage them in the Neighborhood Council System.
