Hello, we've just moved here from the city (Wilmington) and are really enjoying the neighborhood! One thing we do miss about living in town, however, is the recycling program. I know there are drop-off stations around, and we've been doing that, but why has that program not been extended to the residential areas just outside the city limits? Just wondering. . . it seems as though participation would be strong, so it must be something else?

Welcome to North Hills! As you may have noticed, unincorporated New Castle County residents are served by a number of private trash haulers, some of whom collect materials for recycling. It's been estimated that five different companies serve North Hills residents, so there are many choices.
Although curbside recycling may not be organized along the same lines as it is in the City of Wilmington, the Delaware Solid Waste Authority has extended its curbside recycling program to include all neighborhoods. Details are available from the DSWA website. |
