Minutes of the April 19th 2004 Annual Meeting:
The annual meeting of Farley Neighborhood was held at Chapelwood School. The meeting was called to order by President Don Griffith at 7:00 PM. Board members and guests were introduced. Guests were, Neva Hagedorn-Twp. Administrator, Merri Anderson- McANA, Mattie McCormick Public Outreach Lead- Accelerate I-465 West Leg Project, and DPW representatives for the Farley Basin Project/
The treasurer?’s report was read and accepted as read.

Guest speakers from the Department of Public Works were introduced and information was given regarding Farley Basin Project (located at the West end of 13th Street and Furman Avenue). This project will enhance the drainage problems
and overflow storm water from the basin into surrounding areas and clean up the area for a more aesthetic appearance and improve water flowing through the basin. The project will be a marsh setting rather than a retention pond and
provides a safer choice for Farley. Further improvements to the area will provide a walking trail linking the adjacent Chapelwood Creek neighborhood and possible acquisition of adjacent property to the South for a recreation and
walking trail for Farley. These projects are now at the planning stage and more information will be available as the project gets underway. Web Site: www.indygov.org/stormwater
Speakers for ?“Accelerate 465?” The I-465 West Leg Reconstruction Project were introduced and information was given regarding I-465 West Leg Plans. Topics discussed were the schedule of the project, sound abatement , traffic flow
problems that may be encountered during the construction of additional lanes, bridge closings and alternate route planning. Currently Engineers are taking soil samples, looking at right of way access, etc. After all planning and feasibility studies are completed, the project will begin at the Kentucky Avenue/ Route 67 ramps and continue North.
More public meetings will be scheduled as the project nears construction time. For more information, you can call information contacts at: Public Involvement Office: 317-917-5315 .

OTHER CLEAN UP NEEDED IN FARLEY: We need all residents to be aware of trash in Farley
and help improve our appearance by picking up trash along our streets and ditches. Carry a small trash bag with you on your walks or keep one in your car for picking up trash as you drive in the neighborhood. Fast food containers, bottles, cans, etc. make our neighborhood look bad. Be part of the solution...not part of the problem! Don?’t let trash accumulate around your home. Pick it up---pick it up and put it in your trash container. That?’s what Farley Pride is all about!
ABANDONED OR UNOCCUPIED HOUSES IN FARLEY: Abandoned houses have become a
major problem for Farley. If you have an unoccupied or abandoned house near you that you feel needs attention, please notify Don Griffith or Will Silvers. The Health and Hospital Corporation (Board of Health) will send an inspector if the property has high grass, high weeds, broken windows, unsafe roofs, unlocked premises, unsafe or unsanitary conditions including trash and debris accumulations,
rodent and bug infestations, standing water or any other condition that may cause a safety problem for the neighborhood. Pres: Don Griffith: 241-0588 or V. Pres, Will Silvers: 482-0603.
Illegal Signs in Farley: Signs that are on sticks, telephone or utility poles, for advertising purposes are illegal. As a resident, you may remove them when you find them! They are distracting clutter and make the entrances our neighborhood look ugly. Help us by removing these signs as fast as they pop up! Thanks to all residents who are helping remove these eyesores!
CRIME WATCH: Pat Wood, Crime Watch Director, reminds all residents that crime incidents
involving theft, break in, assault, drugs, injury or life threatening incidents should be
IMMEDIATELY reported to 911! Following that, the crime incident or SUSPICIOUS BEHAVIOR should be reported to the crime watch captain for your area and/or to Pat Wood at: 247-1962.
