Firecrackers and especially bottle rockets are illegal and DANGEROUS. We have many reports each year of children and animals being frightened by the noise and property damage as a result of bottle rockets.
We have had reports of youngsters using the area at the end of 13th & Furman Avenues for setting off rockets and firecrackers. This has disturbed residents and creates a dangerous situation since there was NO ADULT present. Please be aware that parents can be held responsible for the illegal activities of their children and any damage that they cause. Parents should also realize the importance of knowing where their children are and what they are doing. Incidents will reported to the Sheriff's Department and they WILL BE WATCHING OUR AREA.
If you are planning a fireworks display this July 4th, you can call the Marion County Sheriff's Department and check to be sure what you plan to use is legal and safe.
Call MARION COUNTY SHERIFF'S NON EMERGENCY PHONE # 327-3811 and follow their information.
Be sure children are supervised by a responsible ADULT when in a fireworks display area. Keep a bucket of water or a water hose available for accidental misfires which can cause house fires or burns to bystanders or YOU.
Be considerate of neighbors. Some people go to work early in the morning and go to bed early ...be considerate of their needs and don't set off loud fireworks late at night. It seems like we hear firecrackers (illegal) bottle rockets (illegal) all night long here in Farley. Little children and animals are frightened of these loud noises!
Fire works are to celebrate JULY 4TH...not JUNE 1 through AUGUST!!
Have fun, but BE SAFE, BE LEGAL AND BE CONSIDERATE OF OTHERS.
